INCREASED DEMANDS IN THE STEEL INDUSTRY

Steel is essentially a sustainable material with a very long life span. It is the world’s most recycled material and fossil-free steel production imposes demands on further recycling. For BE Group’s part, this means that the materials purchased will be optimized and used to the greatest possible extent and the remainder will be recycled. The operations will be as resource efficient as possible with focus on material utilization.

One of BE Group’s strengths is that the company is an independent steel distributor. The company can offer a varied range from several suppliers, which gives the customer greater choice. But it also imposes higher demands on the company in an increasingly regulated market where demands on traceability and transparency through the value chain are increasing.

CORE AREAS AS A COMPASS

The company has developed three core areas that are supposed to be a compass for how the company should act in a sustainable manner to achieve the overarching strategy. The ongoing work to map the business to meet the requirements from EU will clarify the activities within each focus area to drive the sustainability work forward. The work is based on Agenda 2030 and the global goals for sustainable development and the UN Global Compact’s 10 principles.
